This past tuesday marked the 3rd redesign to Dog and Pony Show.
Our focus was to make the site more “bloggy” easier to read, and more interactive. While the interactivity is still in the works, we took a huge step forward.
The theme was created with one thing in mind, easier development between sites. DAPS is now an 8 blog stable, and we wanted to create a uniform layout that was easily customizable for each site to have it’s own flavor.
I’ve added a ton of theme functions that allow for site takeovers, specific stylesheets/images per blog and other cool little function. I’ve also developed a number of widgets catered exactly to DAPS’ needs.
Essentially, when a new blog is needed, the theme and plugins are uploaded and roughly 5 lines of code are added, and a checkbox is clicked. The nessecary artwork obviously needs to be uploaded and a style sheet for each flavor is created to set colors to what they need to be. This cuts my development time per blog by hours. A two day operation is now a 3 hour operation. SWEET!
Concerning the design itself, I based the layout off of the Cleanr theme and made a number of modifications, and rewrote the style sheet. It uses the 960 Grid System so it’s really easy to modify.
I’m really proud of the design as it greatly improves the readability of the posts and all around just looks cleaner.

And you know what, It looks damn good.
I’ve emailed the maintainer of this website for comments:
Me: Basically, I am curious about your choice in using Comic Sans as your site’s typeface…
Sabrina: Comic Sans happened on my page because I post weekly comics that I’ve drawn and I see the comic font as a continued theme. Also, Times New Roman was out of the question because it makes me think of all of those English papers I had to write.
Me: What is your favorite typeface?
Sabrina: Well, I have no passionate hatred or love affair with any font in particular. I think i’d write everything in Edwardian Script, in order to feel terribly dignified, if all of those swirls were truly legible. I’ve always wanted to scan my own handwriting and make it into a font but that wouldn’t really be an improvement on the legibility front.
Me: Anything you want to promote?
Sabrina: I would love for people to check out www.iAmSlowlyLosingMyMind.com. As I said before, I post weekly comics but also, photos, music mixes, and artist showcases with links and interviews, every week.
I re-did my theme a while ago and never finished it. So I spent a nice portion of today wrapping it up. You can download it here.
I’ve also uploaded it to the Wordpress Theme Directory. When it shows up there, I’ll update.
They didn’t like it enough. Fuck ‘em.

Man, it feels good to be a gangsta.

Let me say this as lead developer:
I am super proud of this and want to thank Tavis and Drew for helping develop. I want to thank chris for always nagging about things that need to be worked out and made better. I can’t wait for the redesign in February.
Let me say this as an Editor-in-Chief:
The DAPS staff is amazing. Without this group we could NEVER have been anywhere near where we are now. Everyone who dedicates their time to this cause is worth noting. You should all be very proud of this. The readers chose, and they chose us. Let’s keep up the good work and achieve bigger goals now.

After much blood, sweat, and tears, the day has finally arrived.
Here is the teaser site I threw together for Fan, the film I am working on for Nick Caccese.
I think we are looking to do a larger scale site shortly.
Well actually within 10 days of launch Ill Fashionista has 101 downloads. I am pleased…
Here are some numbers for all of (3) my public releases:
Sell Out wordpress theme: 210 downloads
Vanhalenator greasemonkey script: 109 installs
Ill Fashionista wordpress theme: 101 downloads
Keep downloading the crap I pump out, it makes me feel better.
Ill Fashionista is the newest Wordpress Theme I have developed. It features rounded edges for firefox users and a really swanky color scheme. The idea came from inTouch magazine and somewhere else I can’t remember. You can see the theme page at the Wordpress theme viewer site by clicking here.
