The article discusses the up-and-coming young arts scene on Staten Island. I appear in it, (cause I made the site) and say this:
“I think we’ve gotten to the point where we’ve started to take ourselves seriously, which is good,” says Montagnino, who designed SIcoLab.org to be user-friendly and, more importantly, user-generated. “We need to not limit ourselves to one neighborhood or area. If you’re working with a group of artists, you need to push yourselves and each other in ways that you haven’t done before. It’s easy to be safe — I hope we don’t fall into that.”
My only complaint is that Olivia Munn (eye candy) said that “the concept was better when it was Planet Unicorn“, a video the DAPS staff hasn’t seen until Best Week Ever made the comparison.
Planet Unicorn is a very popular video, and we welcome the comparison, but an outright claim that we stole the idea? I’m a little peeved. Having been in the comedy business for a number of years now, I understand what it means to steal material. Hacks steal, we don’t.
Well not really. I’m featured in this video for like 20 secs. but it’s 20 seconds more than you!! (unless you are michael mandiberg or the host. then it’s significantly less time on screen than you.)
