I am a pretty busy guy, but then again, who isn’t busy. The main problem with me being busy is that I often forget things. Some things important (like waking up this morning), and other things not so important (like posting flyers I made on Augiemania.)

One of the primary consumers of time in my life is Dog and Pony Show. I find myself being on call for the site in all waking hours, and I wear many hats. One of which is Lead Designer, I also have “Art Director” on my resume (yes, DAPS is on my resume for real). As Art Director I usually have to come up with some funky flyers for parties we are throwing, or any other type of promotions.

Here are 4 that I’ve made but never posted.

This first one is for a promotion we were doing trying to get people to register for the site (b&w to save dough on printing:

I am super proud of this and want to thank Tavis and Drew for helping develop. I want to thank chris for always nagging about things that need to be worked out and made better. I can’t wait for the redesign in February.

The DAPS staff is amazing. Without this group we could NEVER have been anywhere near where we are now. Everyone who dedicates their time to this cause is worth noting. Last year I was growing out my facial hair to protest the holidays. When I finally got a job interview (in February, I decided to shave it. I documented it and put it on youtube. I used a song “Thanks for the Misery” by Reggie and the Full Effect in the video. Earlier this week I received this email:

Today I received a phone call from a strange number. Normally, I wouldn’t even answer but I was stressed at work and needed to get outside of eZ-publish for a second.

“Can I speak to Carlo’s mother or father please?”

“This is Carlo, you can speak to me.”

“Oh, well you won a free Karate lesson.”

“I did? How?”

“Your name was entered into a contest.”

“Where?”

“McDonalds”

“If I turn this down, will you select another name?”

“Yes.”

“Will it most likely be a child who really wants it?”

“Probably.”

“Let’s do that.”

I don’t remember entering myself for a free karate lesson. But knowing that I won makes me feel good. Knowing that a small child will win only after losing to me, is awesomer feeling.

The fine folks at Real Clear Politics have created a little electoral college application that tracks how votes are swinging. Let’s look at the current map.

Obama needs 270 votes to win, and he obviously has that right now. Lets take a look at the map if all states vote, with the undecided voting as they have historically.

Wow, Obama is kicking some serious ass.

Now in the favor of non-bias reporting, lets give McCain all of the undecided votes.

The only thing that can stop Obama is a scandal. I propose McCain digging real deep. Maybe a child pornography ring? perhaps he’s killed some hookers while paying for them initially with tax payer money (earmark/pork barrel). I’ve got it! Obama raped a panda bear while visiting China to preemptively sign our great nation over to the red menace.

On the corner of Bay St. and Hylan Blvd live an old advertisement for Staten Island Amusements. After the building changed owners, the phone number was painted over. But the absolute beauty of the mural has remained for years and years.

Passing by and seeing it brings me to another place. A place where Staten Island has culture, a sense of community, and a really liberal idea about dancing aliens.

Today, that sign was taken down.
