augiemania ORLY?

I just finished the re-categorization of my content. take a look at the categories and see if any pique your interest!

Today I decided to reorganize augiemania. I was prompted by a problogger post about categories. You most likely notice the categories are new and there are 200-something “uncategorized” posts. I haven’t gotten to those yet. I’ve also been tagging the posts as I go through them, so my “related posts” plug-in works.

I still have to design that, and display tags in my posts.

In case you weren’t aware, my twitter is just a replication of my blog. I figured it would be nice to let ll you twitter folks know as I have seen a “surge” in my followers over the past few weeks.

UPDATE: I ended up baleeting all my posted items stuff and the feed. Sorry charlie! It’ll be on the DAPS site this week though (hopefully).

Because I post a lot of items on facebook’s “Posted Item” feature.

Some days I find 20 really cool things that I wanna share. I find facebook to be the easiest. (I never got into delicious, digg, or any other bookmarking site.) The personal feel of facebook really allows me to be comfortable sharing my findings. (Which all come from RSS feeds.)

For the past month I have been trying to pull my facebook posted items feed into this site, which is obviously wordpress. I tried a few Plugins, but facebook has a funny feed url or something. FeedWordpress is the one that finally worked.

Today, as stevie and porknbomb pointed out, I had a lot of posts today. BUuuuuuuuut they were mostly all from facebook. (except the cell phone pic, that came from flickr from my phone, and this post.)

I dunno if I like it.

I mean on one hand, it’s more posts, more stuff, more of what I do during my day.

On the other, it feels cheap, it feels rushed, it buries all the vids and pics and stuff i make.

Am I more important than the stuff I take pride in, or is the stuff I take pride in more important than me? Tough question.

I learned a lot about the internet today. I usually put more value in the exchange of information when on the internet. I tend to undervalue the actual person to person communication that really does happen in every exchange of information. Grrrrrrr I’m a robot again.

Yah, I added a facebook badge to the sidebar because despite privacy issues and big brother and all that jazz, I really think facebook is an amazing site.

Before I begin with the celebration, I’d like to give a brief history of augiemania (not the friday the 13th crap which has been regurgitated over and over again [which I should put back on the about page...]) as a website in itself.

I bought augiemania.com a few years back as an alternative to carlomontagnino.com (which now just redirects here). CM.com was my “bloggy/portfolio/stuffy” blog where is posted all the silly photoshops and crap. I also learned a lot about wordpress on it.

I need to get away from CM.com so I began using augiemania as a big crazy non-dynamic HTML website where graphics like this:

were dancing in my background. It had links to all my silly things and I felt very free using it.

As I began finding myself, on the internet and in reality, I decided the CM.com front was gayyo and I turned it into a shitty blog that was more like your girlfriend when compared to her younger sister. I think I just hated having my name as a URL…

augiemania began boring me (like any web site I have ever made after 3 months) so I decided that I had to settle down and just make it a blog, for maintenance sake. (I was sick and tired of ridiculous HTML coding and redundant CSS [i am very unorganized at points].)

After a few theme changes I finally stuck with my SelfishJerk theme (v1.0 available for download!!!) and decided to post about whatever. I am not a blogger, nor do I ever intend on learning how to be (although DAPS may challenge that ideal [actually, it already has].)

Anyway enough about that crap. After the jump the celebration continues…

Well I have just configured TextMate to blog for me using the blogging bundle. Most likely I will be posting more frequently because I practically live in TextMate now.
