"i want the credit for LIKING things. how ’slacker’ is that???"

Is that really slacker though? Some really big name bloggers (read: the entire boing boing staff for example) just like things and blog it. And they end up with book deals or some shit. I came across a great article somewhere that says that you can get away with calling yourself an expert on whatever you like (provided you have the research to back it) and get gigs speaking about it and stuff. Crazy to think that someone may be willing to pay you to speak about fashion trends in hip-hop in the mid 90's. (or whatever)

Basically, liking stuff is essential. If you liked nothing, you'd be a film critic.

I still haven't decided about the facebook onslaught stuff yet. Because I do like it, but maybe this site isn't the venue?

"Am I more important than the stuff I take pride in, or is the stuff I take pride in more important than me? Tough question."

oh man, i think you have hit on one of the most important questions in the universe. esp for people like me, since the stuff i take pride in is not anything i actually produce. i want the credit for LIKING things. how 'slacker' is that???
i was honestly unprepared for the onslaught of carlo in my google reader! i think it might take a while for me to decide if ur online existence is better in these multiple little pings or when you pop up once a week or so. my stuff tends to be longer, more thought-out, and therefore (probably) more than anyone's attention span can handle. or my life is just boring. or both (all 3?). i really think it's a question we all have to chew on as we enter this brave new universe.
in other news, as i'll undoubtably be blogging in a day or two, i got an acknowledgement in my ex's book! full name, motherfucker!! (then again, he also thanked U2...)
